Betreuungsvereinbarung + Application for Doctorate Admission Proceeding +

Registration in the CRC

Together with your principal supervisor, you agree on a topic/title for your PhD project and select a co-(CRC) supervisor with complementary expertise.

You have to complete a supervision agreement, so called "Betreuungsvereinbarung", which must be signed by both supervisors and by the representative of the PhD program (for FUB: Dr. Stephan Block) Please send one copy to the CRC office. We take care of the admission to the Dahlem Research School (DRS) or the Humboldt Graduate School (HGS). Please apply for the doctoral admission at your department (required documents are, in addition to the application form, identity card or passport, certificates/transcripts, curriculum vitae, work plan (description of the goals and methods of the doctoral project), time schedule, proof of language skills)

Please register in the IRTG "Dynamic Hydrogels at Biointerfaces" of the CRC 1449 by completing the application for participation in the Integrated Research Training Group “Dynamic Hydrogels at Biointerfaces “and by a Questionnaire.

Research Plan + Qualification Agreement

Together with your principal supervisor you set up a research plan and fill out your first qualification agreement, which you will send to the CRC office.

Collecting Credits

Withing the first three years of your PhD studies, you need to collect 30 credit points to pass the PhD program

Doctoral students will attend mandatory modules (red; yielding
15 credit points (CPs) in total) and will choose among facultative modules (yellow and green; yielding max. 10
and 31 CPs, respectively). The curriculum has been accomplished, if all mandatory modules have been finished
and at least 30 CPs have been achieved in total.

During the first three years of your PhD studies, you need to collect 30 credit points to pass the PhD program. A list with activities, for which you receive credit points is here. All credit points for mandatory activities are counted automatically. To receive credit points for optional activities, send an email with some proof to the CRC-office.

6, 18, 30

Progress Report + Development Meetings

After 6, 18 and 30 months you have to write a progress report (template) and you have to set up a meeting with both supervisors, in which you present the status of your project with respect to your research plan and qualification agreement. Please inform the CRC office regading the date and time of the development meeting. If necessary, research plan or the qualification agreement will be adapted. The supervision and qualification agreement as well as the progress reports are collected by the scientific coordinator of the IRTG.

End of the 3-years curriculum of the IRTG

In the first three years of your PhD studies, you need to collect 30 credit points to pass the PhD program. A list of activities for which you receive credit points can be found here. All credit points for mandatory activities are automatically counted. To receive credit for optional activities, email the CRC office with proof.

Finalizing Dissertation, Handing-In and Defence and PhD Certificate

Finalize your dissertation. After submitting your dissertation, apply to the CRC office for a certificate of successful completion of the CRC doctoral program. Please send the final title, the date you will submit and defend your dissertation, and your grade to the CRC office.
